Furbie's Books and Goods didn't start in a grand storefront or with a detailed business plan. It began with a simple love for books, collectibles, and the joy of finding that perfect treasure for someone who would cherish it. Then came 2020, and the world changed overnight. The COVID-19 pandemic brought uncertainty, isolation, and challenges that tested every small business owner. Supply chains faltered, shipping became unpredictable, and the future felt impossibly unclear. There were days when it seemed easier to close the doors and walk away.

But something remarkable happened during those difficult months. As people found themselves confined to their homes, they rediscovered the comfort of a good book. And so, I made a decision — to honor his memory by naming this business after him. Furbie's Books and Goods would stand as a testament to the joy he brought into my life and the resilience he inspired in me.

Life has a way of bringing light back into the darkness when you least expect it. Enter Luke Skywalker — a spirited, curious cat with a personality as big as his namesake. From the moment he bounded into my life, he brought with him a renewed sense of purpose and joy.

Luke doesn't replace Furbie; no one ever could. But he has carved out his own special place in this journey. He's my new companion in the daily work of running this business, my enthusiastic assistant (even if his "help" sometimes involves knocking books off shelves), and a constant reminder that life goes on, and new adventures await.

With Luke by my side, Furbie's Books and Goods has entered an exciting new phase. We're expanding our collection, reaching more customers, and building something better than ever before. The business that survived a pandemic and carried the weight of loss is now thriving with fresh energy and boundless possibilities.
